2020 Election Maps

Many thanks to volunteer Eric DeBellis for mapping out the election results in Palatine Township from the 2020 General Election. Democratic candidates for federal offices were overwhelmingly popular among voters in our township. We Democrats have more work to do to mobilize support for our candidates for State Representative and County-level offices. Turnout was 71% of all registered voters. The maps show results of races in Palatine Township only. Maps do not include the races for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District: Democrats Eira L Corral Sepulveda, Kimberly Neely Dubuclet, and M. Cameron 'Cam" Davis won the three open seats.

Statewide in Illinois, Joseph R. Biden won 57.54% to Donald Trump's 40.55%, according to the Illinois Board of Elections.

Across the state, Sen. Richard J. Durbin won 54.93% to Mark C. Curran's 38.87%.

In the Sixth Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Sean Casten won the district, 52.82% to Jeanne Ives' 45.43%. The blackened portions of the township are in the Eighth Congressional District.

U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi won re-election to the Eighth Congressional seat, 73.16%. The Eighth District overlaps with the eastern quarter of Palatine Township.

The Fair Tax, unfortunately, failed at the ballot box. Across the state, voters rejected the Constitutional Amendment to allow for a progressive income tax, 75.99% to 24.01%. We'll be seeing drastic cuts in services as a result.

In 2018, Maggie Trevor was short only 43 votes in the race for the 54th Illinois House seat. In 2020, more than 13,000 people voted in this race than voted two years ago. While Candidate Trevor gained more than 5,500 votes over her total in 2018, it was not enough to overcome the incumbent. The blackened northeast corner of Palatine Township is in the 57th House District, and incumbent Jonathan Carroll, (D) won re-election unopposed. The blackened precincts at the bottom center of the township belong to the 56th House District, and incumbent Michelle Mussman (D) won her district with 57.59% of the vote. In addition, one precinct in the bottom right corner of Palatine Township is in the 28th State Senate District, and incumbent State Sen. Laura Murphy (D) won re-election unopposed.

Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx's message of racial justice did not resonate with a majority of voters in Palatine Township. Fortunately, other parts of Cook County took the message to heart and she was re-elected handily with 53.9% of the total vote in Cook County.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Iris Y. Martinez won the seat for the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County--county-wide she won 71.7% of the vote.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Tammy Wendt squeaked out an upset in the Cook County Board of (Tax) Review, unseating incumbent Dan Patlak, 51.04% to 48.96% across the sprawling First District.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Until 2018, Democrats were unsuccessful in winning judicial races in the 13th Subcircuit of Cook County. Susanne Michele Groebner added to the success of Democratic candidates by winning the 13th District, 54.75% to 45.25%.
